We went to the doctor yesterday, Monday, February 11, 2008. We were to get more blood work results to get Cheryl's condition diagnosed properly and put in place a course of action. The result, Cheryl's blood pressure was elevated, 156/94 . It was determined her Potassium level was a little low 3.1 (ideally needs to be 3.5 to 5.5). And of course as we anticipated her C!A was 10.7 YES TYPE II DIABETES. The blood sugar fasting was 229, however down from initially diagnosed 325. This simply a result of her diet change since visiting the ER when we were first made aware of this condition. She lost 2 lbs also as result of proper diet, not starvation, which we will continue, as a cornerstone of managing Type II Diabetes.
The doctors recommendation was to put Cheryl on both blood pressure medication, and insulin pill to manage blood sugar. He also prescribed a Potassium supplement. Since the doctor was aware I was successful in managing my Type II Diabetes and still am without Meds, and Cheryl's condition very similiar to mine, he indicated if we could manage and make progress he would have no problem in delaying Meds. This challenge begins, Folks, It can be done.
We however, are considering the blood pressure medication at least initially. We however are going to monitor very closely over this next week. I believe Cheryl's elevated blood pressure is a result of the White Coat syndrome. We'll see.
More in a couple of days. Folks,
